Davinia James is full time activist who advocates on behalf of the 62 millions of girls worldwide that are not in schools. For the past three years, she has been using pennies to educate girls worldwide through the Girl Rising Foundation. Why pennies? People are skeptical about donating which is understandable, however, pennies aren't considered to have much value if any at all. Sadly, this is how girls are being viewed worldwide which is why she is committed to changing such issues.  Girls are valuable and girls are worth it. Being born a girl isn't a sin or a crime and for that mere fact, they should be granted the same opportunities and chances to become their greatest self.

Over 700,000 pennies have been collected so far, which have been able to send over 100 girls to school. Her efforts caught the eyes of Hugh Evans, the CEO of Global Citizen. In a recent TEDtalk, he shared Davinia's story of using pennies to change the world and how she was the prime example of a global citizen. One of Davinia’s favorite quotes is: "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." No doubt, she is a woman and an Emerging Leader on a mission to change the world’s view about girls today and generations to come.
